Shop Local at These Denver-Area Holiday Markets

The holiday shopping season is upon us, and for many consumers, that means hitting up their favorite local businesses.

Almost three-quarters of shoppers are expected to shop at local retailers this holiday season. A third of consumers plan to buy handmade gifts. And lucky for us, Denver is among the best cities in the U.S. to shop local.

Yelp recently ranked Denver No. 3 behind San Diego and Austin, Texas, in its annual analysis of the best U.S. cities to find gifts at local businesses. Chances are you can find all that and more at the metro area’s many upcoming holiday markets. Here are some of our favorite Holiday Markets:

Denver Handmade Homemade

Handmade Homemade is spreading the joy over four consecutive Saturdays. The low-key, curated pop-ups will feature 9-10 different vendors each week — the grassroots group tends to focus on businesses that are just starting out.

Firefly Holiday Market

An outdoor market in December? Boulder’s Firefly Handmade is betting on it (and a large heated tent with “a toasty artisanal atmosphere.”) The juried market will welcome about 100 artisans to the Twenty Ninth Street shopping district for the two-day holiday event. Here, you won’t find any vintage or manufactured goods — everything sold must be handmade and made in America.

One of the largest and longest-lived holiday craft markets in the region, HART at the Foothills Art Center keeps on truckin’ in its 42nd year with a time-tested selection of handmades in all price ranges that makes shopping easy.

Christkindl Market

9369594-87

The holiday season officially arrives in downtown Denver when the Christkindl Market opens for business on the mall in Skyline Park. The family-friendly holiday shopping valhalla is all fairytale sparkle, oompah bands and old-world eatertainment, with huge pretzels, stollen and strudel, warm Glühwein, beer and other Germanic treats to munch on and sip while browsing through matryoshka dolls, wooden Santas and other Christmasy merch.

Georgetown Christmas Market

georgetown

Each December the town of Georgetown transforms for two weekends into a bustling Christmas scene reminiscent of Christmas long ago. Thousands come to this beautiful mountain town to experience a traditional Holiday where Christmas hasn’t changed in 100 years: roasted chestnuts, Holiday shopping, horse-drawn wagon rides through Historic Georgetown, and wonderful sights and smells.
