Arvada is a suburb of Denver. It is found to the north and west of Denver. The city straddles the line between Jefferson and Adams counties. Arvada prides itself in being a large city with a small city feel. Being close to Denver gives it all of the options of the large city, but the location farther out also allows it to maintain its small town feel. It is rural and more open.

Demographics

Arvada has a mayor/council form of government. The council is made up of representatives from 4 areas throughout Arvada. The mayor and council members serve for a 4-year term, with elections being held on the first Tuesday in November in odd number years. The city council may call for special elections as deemed necessary.

There are many friendly people in Arvada. The majority of the population is between the ages of 25-64. Children under 18 make up 23% of the population. The elderly only make up 13% of the population.

Many of the residents travel to Denver or to Boulder for employment.

There is a nice mix of housing in Arvada. There are 42,000 high-density housing apartments, but there are also many single family homes. The median range prices for homes is in the los $200,000.

Arvada has many beautiful tree lined streets that make you feel like you are in a small town where everyone knows each other. They have a wonderful historic downtown area that is home to many eclectic shops and offer many wonderful dining experiences.

They are planning for the future by including it in their plans for a transit stop as a part of the FasTracks light rail system that is being built.

They can also boast about the Arvada Center For The Arts and Humanities. There you can enjoy many different forms of art and entertainment. They offer award winning theatre productions, concerts, and a large facility for banquets and social gatherings.

The leaders of Arvada have not forgotten the people’s desire to have open spaces and the country feel, so they have built many well-kept parks, trails and walkways for the residents to be able to enjoy the outdoor beauty of living in the foothills of the grand Rocky Mountains.
